But, for a couple of years now, they have been knocked off the top-spot with the new service, Peru Hop.

Is Oltursa Safe?

Oltursa has invested substantially in its bus fleet, incorporating new GPS systems and making separate entrances for bus drivers and passengers. However, this was not enough in stopping thieves in hijacking an Oltursa bus service from Lima to Arequipa in August 2016. This resulted in 51 passengers being robbed and has damaged Oltrusa reputation significantly. Tourists have since been exploring other options: Peru Hop is a good alternative, as it is a more secure and friendly bus service operating all over south Peru.
