2025 updated information on Oltursa buses, their routes, and schedules. Discover all of the information you need to know before booking your bus ticket below.
With over 30 years experience of operating buses in Peru, Oltursa is a renowned, innovative and secure bus operator. With good customer service and quality buses, Oltursa has been Peruvians’ favorite bus operator to travel around the country in different cities from north to south. They are well known for introducing semi-bed seats, double-decker buses in Peru. In 2010, they were awarded prizes for their innovation in security and quality in service. But, for a couple of years now, they have been knocked off the top-spot with the new service, Peru Hop.
Oltursa is one of Peru’s long‑distance public bus brands with decades in the market. Seat classes span standard semi‑recline to “cama” and VIP styles with claimed extras like individual screens and USB/AC outlets. That range, plus broad coastal coverage, makes Oltursa serviceable for budget‑to‑mid travelers who want a conventional bus and can manage terminals and Spanish‑first customer service.
Peru’s road conditions are dynamic. The Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones maintains a 24/7 updated map showing closures/restrictions (green/amber/red). The regulator SUTRAN publishes its “Alerta” interactive map and hotlines (including WhatsApp 999‑382‑606 and Aló Sutran 0800‑12345). Check both before you ride and favor daylight for high‑Andes legs.
What to expect from public buses during disruptions: companies often post generic cancellation notices to social feeds serving a local audience; rebooking help can be limited. Tourist‑oriented services tend to proactively message passengers and assist with rescheduling. Build buffers and keep proof of any operator announcements for insurance purposes.

“Bad service… They cancelled the trip the same day, without prior notice… It’s a terrible experience I’ve lived through.” Carmen S, Peru, November 2024.

Timetables, seat maps and amenities change frequently by route/date, and aggregator listings are snapshots. Work‑around: verify inclusions on your exact departure 24 hours before travel, monitor the official MTC/SUTRAN maps on the day, and keep flexible options like Peru Hop passes or the Inka Express day bus in your back pocket.
Oltursa operates a wide range of buses:
HOW TO PERU QUICK TIP: Peru Hop has been voted the #1 bus company in all of Peru on TripAdvisor for the 5th consecutive year.

Oltursa has invested substantially in its bus fleet, incorporating new GPS systems and making separate entrances for bus drivers and passengers. However, this was not enough in stopping thieves in hijacking an Oltursa bus service from Lima to Arequipa in August 2016. This resulted in 51 passengers being robbed and has damaged Oltrusa reputation significantly. Tourists have since been exploring other options: Peru Hop is a good alternative, as it is a more secure and friendly bus service operating all over south Peru.
Oltursa covers various routes in Peru, from the North, Centre and South. It covers cities such as Arequipa, Chimbote, Chiclayo, Cusco, Ica, Huaraz, Piura and more. Check out all of Oltursa’s bus schedules and routes on their website.
Definitely on some routes, especially north and central (Lima to Huaraz, Chiclayo, Trujillo and so on). However, we recommend on booking with Peru Hop if you are planning to travel through the south of Peru!
